It is with great pleasure to welcome you to the Tonga National University. This year marks an important milestone for your university as it was registered by the Tonga National Qualification and Accreditation Board (TNQAB) as a Post-Compulsory Education and Training Provider for Tonga. Granting a full registration further strengthens the University’s commitment as an institution providing quality education in academic and vocational study programs for the people of Tonga.
TNU is comprised of 4 Faculties and 12 schools, delivering 55 academic and vocational programs ranging from Certificate to Diploma to Degree and to Post-graduate awards. New awards will be delivered this year, therby providing further opportunities for potential students of TNU to pursue higher level studies here in Tonga.
The School of Tongan Language and Culture will offer a degree program in the Tongan Language and Culture. As the only national university in Tonga, it is our responsibility to preserve and maintain our Tongan traditions and culture; the dedication of staff and overseas scholars to develop these study programs, guarantees the preservation of our unique identity.
TNU is your national university, a place to study while staying close to your family and social networks and support, whilst contributing to your community and sustaining our local economy and workforce.
I extend my best wishes to you, and strongly encourage you to maximize your potential while studying at TNU.
My wish for you that your journey in learning here at TNU will be guided by Truth, in the pursuit of Justice, and in the spirit of Freedom.
